For: lead off baseball umpires 70 foot diamond or greater - cost $50.00 per student
Time: 6-7.5 hours of Instruction
Delivery Method: 1 day clinic of 6 hours plus a 1 hour break for lunch. 7 hours total.
OR
5 evening sessions of 1.5 hours each. Total 7.5 hours.
Concepts:
- Review of Rules and Rotations - Classroom (1 hour – 1.5 hours)
- Basics of umpiring, Ejections, and Game Management
- Plate Mechanics –Gym (1.5 hours)
- Signals, Appearance, Plate Meeting, Calling pitches
- Base Mechanics –Gym (1.5 hours)
- Signals, Appearance, Rotations and Drills
- Pitching Regulations and Balks – Classroom (1.25 hours-1.5 hours)
- Jim Evans Video and discussion
- Rule Development –Classroom or Gym as required (1 hour – 1.5 hours)
Each year the clinic will feature a special rule or segment designed to improve an umpire’s knowledge of the given topic.
Notes: There will NEVER be a combined L1-L2 clinic unless approval is given by the Education Chairman.
